Ahlam Mosteghanemi

An Algerian writer, born in Tunisia, whose origins go back to Constantine, the capital of the Algerian east, where her father, Mohamed Sharif, who was a participant in the Algerian revolution, was born. He knew French prisons, because of his participation in the demonstrations of May 8, 1945. After his release in 1947, he had lost his job in the municipality, however, he is considered lucky as he did not die with those who died at that time (45 thousand martyrs fell during those demonstrations) and became pursued by The French police, because of his political activity after the dissolution of the Algerian People's Party. Which led to the birth of the National Liberation Front (FLN). She worked on the national radio, which created her fame as a poet. She moved to France in the seventies of the last century, where she married a Lebanese journalist, and in the eighties she obtained a doctorate from the Sorbonne University. She currently resides in Beirut. She is the recipient of the 1998 Naguib Mahfouz Prize for her novel Memory in the Flesh. Among her books are On the Port of Days in 1973. Writing in a Moment of Nudity in 1976. Memory of the Flesh in 1993. It was listed among the 100 best Arabic novels. In 2010, then starring in a series named after the novel by director Najda Anzour..
