He is Abdullah bin al-Muqaffa, of Persian origin, and he was born in a village in Persia called (Jor) whose name was Rozbah por Dadawayh (Rouzbah bin Dadawiyeh), and his nickname was “Aba Amr”. So he hit him on his hands until they swelled up (i.e. their fingers swollen and crooked and then paralyzed). He is a Persian Zoroastrian thinker who converted to Islam, and lived through both the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphates.
