Book Description
Six of Crows is a novel by Leigh Bardugo that follows a group of six outcasts on a dangerous heist in the city of Ketterdam. Set in the same world as Bardugo's Grisha Trilogy, Six of Crows takes place in the city-state of Kerch, a place of commerce and trade where power is controlled by ruthless gangs and corrupt merchants.
The story follows Kaz Brekker, a criminal mastermind and leader of the Dregs gang, as he assembles a team of skilled individuals to pull off an impossible heist: breaking into the highly secure Ice Court and stealing a valuable prisoner. Along with Kaz, the crew consists of the sharpshooter Jesper, the spy and acrobat Inej, the Grisha Nina, the convict Matthias, and the demolitions expert Wylan.
As they navigate the treacherous streets and politics of Ketterdam, the team faces obstacles both external and internal. They must deal with rival gangs, corrupt officials, and a deadly drug known as jurda parem, which enhances Grisha powers to dangerous levels. Meanwhile, Kaz and the others must confront their own personal demons and learn to trust each other if they hope to succeed.
Told through alternating points of view, Six of Crows weaves together a complex and compelling narrative full of twists and turns. Bardugo's writing is immersive and vivid, bringing the bustling city of Ketterdam to life and crafting well-rounded characters with compelling backstories and motivations.
Overall, Six of Crows is a thrilling and gripping tale of loyalty, love, and the power of redemption. With its intricate plot, memorable characters, and vivid world-building, it has become a beloved favorite among fantasy readers.
