Book Description
Crooked Kingdom is the second book in Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows duology. It picks up where the first book left off, with Kaz Brekker and his crew trying to pull off their biggest heist yet. They must rescue Inej, who has been captured by Jan Van Eck, and recover the money that he stole from them. As they plot their revenge, they must also contend with rival gangs and the corrupt powers that rule Ketterdam.
Kaz, Inej, Jesper, Wylan, Nina, and Matthias must work together to outwit their enemies and overcome their own personal demons. Kaz is haunted by his past and his need for revenge, Inej struggles with her loyalty to Kaz and her desire for freedom, Jesper faces the consequences of his addiction to gambling, Wylan confronts his traumatic childhood, Nina battles the addiction to parem that threatens to consume her, and Matthias grapples with his conflicting loyalties to his country and his newfound friends.
As they execute their plan, the crew uncovers a conspiracy that goes beyond their own heist and threatens the entire city of Ketterdam. They must decide whether to prioritize their own goals or to risk everything to stop the corrupt powers that hold the city in their grip.
With its intricate plot, complex characters, and fast-paced action, Crooked Kingdom is a thrilling conclusion to the Six of Crows duology. It explores themes of loyalty, friendship, redemption, and the cost of revenge. Bardugo's masterful storytelling and world-building create a vivid and immersive world that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
