تجري أحداث هذه الرواية في جنوب غرب الصحراء العراقية، حيث تستعد القوّات العراقية لهجوم قوات التحالف المرتقب على العراق عقب غزو الكويت. المقتل المفاجئ لثلاثة من الضباط على أيدي عصابة يتزعمها شاب اسمه جسّاس من قبيلة بني جدلة البدوية، يحرف مصير فصيلٍ كامل من الجنود في اتجاه آخر. إذْ يكلَّفون بتعقب العصابة وقتلهم أو أسرهم بمساعدة دليلٍ بدوي اسمه منور من قبيلة بني جابر الموالية للدولة. لكنَّ الرواية تنتهي بمقتل أفراد الفصيل جميعاً، باستثناء الراوي الذي ينجو بالمصادفة ويقرر إتمام المهمة بمساعدة من قبيلة بني جابر.

Ali Badr

The Iraqi writer Ali Badr was born in Baghdad / Eastern Karada 1964. Bachelor's degree in French literature 1985. Between 1985 and 1991 he performed military service, half of which was spent in the Iran-Iraq war. After that, he entered specialized courses in the verification and repair of manuscripts at the National Manuscripts House in Baghdad 1992. He tried to complete his university studies in Baghdad in 1996 by writing a thesis on Roland Barthes, but he was dismissed from the university for political reasons before the discussion. From his translations: “Pierre Jorda: A Journey to the East” (Damascus 1999) “Salah Stetia: Violin of the Elements”, poetry (Baghdad 2000 Ali Badr may be considered the best Iraqi novelist who appeared despite the state of cultural siege in the last ten years, Badr was able to overcome The temptations of the harsh and unhealthy Iraqi reality in the nineties of the last century, but succeeded in a remarkable way in dealing with the decadence that Iraqi literature found itself in due to the political events and wars that Iraq went through.His novels caused a great surprise to the Iraqi and Arab cultural milieu, because they adopted the historical novel model. Without falling into the glaring imitation of reality or history, it came boldly and dealt with prosperous or decadent Iraqi cultural periods, but it constituted a turning point in the modern history of Iraq.
