Fadila Al-Farouq was born on November 20, 1967 in the city of Aris, in the heart of the Aures Mountains, in the state of Batna in eastern Algeria. She is an Algerian writer who belongs to the revolutionary, educated Melkami family, which was famous for its medical profession in the region. She studied in Algeria, worked in radio and journalism, and then moved to Beirut. From Beirut, she started as a writer. Today, she is considered one of the very distinguished Arab female novelists, as she discusses important issues in Arab society, and has very different and sometimes shocking opinions. It calls for coexistence of religions, equality between men and women, and condemns wars of all kinds. We published her after Taa Al-Khajal, her novel The Discovery of Lust in 2005 and the Novel Regions of Fear in 2010, all issued by Dar Al Rayes in Beirut. The Taa Al Khajal was translated into French and Spanish, and excerpts of it were translated into Italian. Her secondary education was in Constantine at Malek Haddad High School. - Baccalaureate - Mathematics 1987. I joined the University of Batna (eastern Algeria) and studied medicine for two years. She joined the Institute of Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Constantine in 1989. Bachelor's degree in Arabic language and literature in the year 1994. She worked in the field of written and audio journalism in Algeria from 1990 to 1995, and she had a famous column in the weekly “Al-Hayat al-Jazira” that caused more than an uproar. She had a literary program that lasted for two years called “The Harvest of Creativity” on the first radio channel, one of the most important and successful programmes. I moved to Lebanon in 1995 after I got married to a Lebanese man. She has contributed to the Lebanese press (Al-Kifah Al-Arabi - Al-Hayat - As-Safir, and other titles).
