Youssef Abu Rayyah
Youssef Abu Raya was born in January 1955 in the Hahya Center in the Sharkia Governorate. He obtained his university degree in media from Cairo University and worked at the Research Center as a general manager. He was the Secretary General of the Egyptian PEN Association for the last 13 years of his life. He also participated in the demonstrations of the Kefaya movement, the opposition to the re-election of Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak. The late has seven collections of stories, the first of which is "Al-Duha Al-Alame", which was published in 1985. His collections also include "Talal Al-Nar", "Winter of Nudity", "Ask the Wind" and "Hymn Al-Dar". He has also authored five novels, "A Wedding Night", "The Silence of the Mills", "The Thirst of Cactus", "The White Island" and "Tal Al-Hawa", and four books for children, "The Bread of the Young", "The Lion of the Circus" and "The Last Days of the Camel".
