اقترح على زميل ، لعلمه بأني كنت يوما إسلاميا ، أن أكتب عن تجربتي مع " الجماعة الاسلامية" وكان ردي ان تجربتي ليس فيها ما يهم احدا ، لأني كنت شخصا عاديا كما أنني غير مستعد - بغرض إثارة الانتباه - للإفتراء على أناس عايشتهم سنوات فما وجدتهم غير بشر، لا ملائكة ولا شياطين، وانتهى الحديث بأن طلب منى الزميل ان أفكر في الأمر. أبعدت الفكرة عن رأسي وكتبت موضوعا عن تاريخ شارع قصر النيل، وآخر عن تاريخ حى الزمالك وبدأت في إعداد موضوع عن علاقة عبد الناصر بمجلس قيادة الثورة. وفي زحام تلك المواضيع التى لا تلقى إقبالا كبيرا لطابعها التاريخي، قلت لنفسي وأنا جالس على مقهى زهرة البستان: "لماذا لا أكتب شيئا عن تجربتي مع " الجماعة الإسلامية" ، لاختبر كيف يمكن كتابة مثل هذه التحربة؟

Khaled Al-Beri

An Egyptian writer, born in Sohag in 1972. He received his Bachelor of Medicine from Cairo University in 1997. His first book, "The World is More Beautiful Than Heaven," was published by Dar Al-Nahar in 2001, then it was published in several Arabic and English editions, in which he narrates aspects of his biography and his joining the groups. It also deals with the behavior of extremist groups in the last three decades of the twentieth century, and the terrorist incidents that raided Egyptian society, and cases of that period he spent among the ranks of the Islamic group before leaving it, and heading In 1999, he moved to London, where he has lived since the date of departure and works there for the British Broadcasting Corporation "BBC Arabic". He also published two novels, the first "Negative" published by Merit in 2004. The second, "An Oriental Dance / Rituals of the Birth and Absence of the Awaited Ibn al-Rifa'iyyah", published by Dar al-Ain in mid-2010, is 600 pages of medium length, and it is the novel that reached the long list. Then the shorts for the Booker Prize.
