Volker Blüm is a German zoologist and author working in the field of comparative vertebrate reproductive biology. He is an expert in the field of vertebrate reproduction and has done extensive research in this area.

Blüm was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1952 and studied biology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt. After his studies, he worked at various research institutions in Germany and abroad, including the Max Planck Institute for Behavioral Physiology in Seewiesen, the University of Paris and the Laboratory for Comparative Endocrinology at the University of California in Los Angeles.

In his research work, Blüm dealt primarily with the reproductive biology of amphibians and reptiles. He studied the physiology and biochemistry of reproduction, the development of sex organs and hormones, and the behavior of males and females during the mating season.
