إذا كانتْ لهجاتُ العربِ تَتنوَّعُ اليومَ ويَختلِفُ المحكيُّ في شبهِ الجَزيرةِ العربيَّةِ عنه في العراقِ أو الشامِ أو مصرَ أو المغربِ أو السودان، بل تتعدَّدُ أيضًا اللهجاتُ داخلَ القُطرِ الواحد، وذلك بسببِ ما تعرَّضَتْ له اللغةُ من مؤثِّراتٍ جغرافيَّةٍ وتاريخيَّةٍ وسياسيَّةٍ واجتماعيَّة؛ فإنَّ الاختلافَ قديمٌ قِدمَ اللغةِ العربيةِ الفُصحى، وهو حادثٌ بين القبائلِ العربيةِ حتَّى فيما قبلَ الإسلامِ واختلاطِ العربِ بالأُممِ الأخرى إثرَ الفُتوحاتِ الإسلامية. ويسلِّطُ «أحمد تيمور» الضوءَ في هذا الكتابِ على نحوِ عشرينَ لهجةً مِن لهجاتِ العربِ القُدماء، استَقاها مِن كُتبِ التراثِ الأدبيِّ واللُّغوي، وكذلكَ مِنَ القراءاتِ القرآنيةِ وتفاسيرِها، ليقدِّمَ للقارئِ والباحثِ دراسةً فريدةً من نوعِها، تُورِدُ أسماءَ اللهجاتِ وسماتِها والمتكلِّمينَ بها، مع شُروحاتٍ واستِشهادات، وبيانٍ للفَصيحِ والأفصَح، وتنبيهٍ إلى غريبِ اللَّهجات.

Ahmed Taymour Pasha

One of the great men of the Arab Renaissance, and a researcher in the fields of language, literature and history. He is considered the owner of the largest private library in the modern era. Where the number of books in it amounted to eighteen thousand books, and he is the father of each of the two genius writers: Mahmoud Taymour and Muhammad Taymour, and he is the brother of the stubborn one. One of the pioneers of the feminist movement in the nineteenth century in the Arab world.
Ahmed Ismail Muhammad Taymour was born in 1871 AD, his father died when he was an infant, and his older sister Aisha al-Taymouriyyah and her husband Muhammad Tawfiq took care of him. Timur studied at the French school of Marcel for a few years, then dropped out of regular studies and received his education at home; He learned Persian and Turkish, and the young man had, by the age of twenty, built a personal library of eight thousand volumes, half of which were a manuscript.
