لا يكاد يُذكَر في أي مَحفلٍ علمي موضوعٌ يخص الجاذبية الأرضية إلا ويُذكَر «نيوتن»؛ ذلك الفيلسوف العظيم الذي تَربَّع على قمة العبقرية، والذي يُعَد من أهم مَن تحدَّث عن الجاذبية. وهذا الكتاب يُبسِّط موضوعَ الجاذبية الأرضية، كما جاءت على لسان «نيوتن»، بأسلوبٍ رشيق؛ يجمع بين الفلسفة التي استخدمها «نيوتن» في الوصول إلى البراهين، وبين الطريقة العلمية المبسَّطة التي يفهمها القارئ غير المتخصِّص، ليجدَ بين طيَّات الكتاب كشفًا لأعمق أسرار الجاذبية، وأسرار الطبيعة، وقواعدها، ونواميسها، وحلًّا للألغاز التي طالما أحاطَت بها. وأضاف الكاتب مُلحَقًا رياضيًّا لبَرْهنة قضايا الجاذبية المهمة؛ فجعل بذلك من كتابه موجزًا وافيًا مهمًّا لكل باحثٍ ومهتمٍّ بتلك القضية العلمية المهمة.

Nicolas Haddad

He is a journalist, scientist and poet. He was born in Sidon, Lebanon, and studied pharmacy at the “Syrian Protestant College” (later the American University of Beirut) and then immigrated to Egypt and settled there. He worked in the press and edited in Al-Ahram newspaper and others. He traveled to New York in 1907 and co-authored the university edition with Farah Antoine. He returned to Cairo and participated with his wife, Rose Antoine Haddad, in publishing the Ladies and Gents magazine, which has been publishing for twelve years. Editor-in-chief of Al-Muqtafa (1949-1950), and he is the author of a large number of books, most notably "Sociology" and "The Geometry of the Universe According to the Law of Relativity". He has a large collection of novels and plays between the author and the translator. He promoted his ideas through the two publications, Al-Muqtafa and Al-Hilal, which were established respectively in 1876 and 1892. Nicolas Haddad has been described as "one of the pioneers of the Arab Renaissance".
