هي حكاية امرأة "تتأجج فيها حقبات العمر، من زمن الطفولة هي، من طعم المراهقة الحجرة، من وطن وغربة، من لقاءات وافتراقات، من حبّ مستحيل دوماً، كالسراب يلمع، نظنّه ماء وارتواء وفي الاقتراب منه خواء وقشب". تتخلل أحداث الرواية وتداعياتها الفكرية قصص الحب الأزلية، فأي حب هو "هذا الحب العاصف الذي كان يستوحي من صمت الليل جنونه لم يثبّت كياني بين قوم من الشتات، أيبست شموس الصيف قلبه، وقشّبت ثلوج الشتاء مشاعره"، أهو حب مستحيل أم أنها استحالة الحب في كل زمان ومكان؟، إلا يتشابه جوهر حالته وتتكرر قصته إن جرت معها أو مع غيرها؟.

Mai Mansi

Lebanese writer and novelist. She began her career in 1959 on Lebanon TV, presenter and producer of two programs: "Women of the Day" and "Jerf on the Path of Extinction". In 1969, she joined An-Nahar newspaper, as a critic in literature, theater and music affairs. Editor-in-chief of the monthly "Your Beauty" magazine. She holds a postgraduate diploma in French literature. She began her journalistic career in 1959 on television and worked as a critic for the Lebanese newspaper "An-Nahar" since 1969. She has published seven novels in Arabic and two in French, in addition to a children's book and many translations, most of them from French into Arabic. She is the sister of the Lebanese novelist and poet Venus Khoury-Ghata, who won the French Goncourt Prize for Poetry for her entire work.
