A Lebanese novelist, born in 1952, she specialized in contemporary literature. She spent a large period in Beirut at the beginning of her life and then moved to live in Paris, France, from that time until now. She wrote all her books in Arabic despite her long stay in France. Where Hoda Barakat refused to write in any language other than Arabic. All of her books have been translated into several languages, including English, Hebrew, French, Italian, Spanish, Turkish, German and Greek.
