Laila Al-Atrash
Jordanian novelist and short story writer. She holds a license in law and a diploma in French. Some of her novels, short stories, and articles have been translated into six international languages, some of which have been decided upon in Jordanian, Arab, American and French universities, and many university dissertations have been submitted on her. A number of her works have been turned into radio series. She was chosen by the Fourth Arab Human Development Report on Women as one of the few women writers who have left a clear impact on their societies. She and Sayidaty magazine, published in English in December 2008, chose her as one of the 60 most successful women in the Arab world. She participated in the Writer-in-Residence Program at the American University of Iowa and the French University of Lyon II. She practiced media work, both written and audio, and then specialized in television, so she prepared and presented direct documentary, cultural, political, social and dialogue programs for Qatar TV until 2000, then the global station IRT and interviewed 65 figures of politics, literature and art on their sites, and won a number of awards and certificates of appreciation. Some of its programs were broadcast by many Arab stations. She was honored in cultural forums, Arab and Western universities, and the Arab Pioneers Center of the Arab League in its first session. She participated in dozens of Arab and international literary and media seminars and conferences. She has written a weekly article in the Jordanian newspaper Al-Dustour since 2000. Member of several bodies: Member of the Board of Directors of the Jordan News Agency, Petra Head of the Jordan Branch - International PEN League Member of the Higher National Committee for the "Family Library" - Ministry of Culture from 2007 to 2009 and head of its media committee Member of the Arab Thought Forum Member of the Jordanian Writers Association and the Arab Writers Union Member of the Advisory Board of the Amman Cultural Journal
