للموسيقى العربية تاريخٌ طويل، يَمتدُّ من أقدم العصور إلى وقتنا هذا، مرورًا بالعصور الوسطى والدول الإسلامية والممالك الأندلسية. وقد تَفرَّد العربُ بآلاتهم الموسيقية المميزة، وكذلك ألحانهم العربية الأصيلة؛ فأَخذَت عنهم الأممُ ألحانَهم وإبداعَهم في تطويع الشعر للألحان، ومن أشهر مَن فعَل ذلك «الفارابي» الفيلسوف الكبير. وليس أدَل على حرص العرب على الموسيقى وشغفهم بها من قصصِ مجالس أهل الغناء والموسيقى ونوادرهم وندواتهم وتَنافُسهم في إمتاع الخلفاء والأمراء الذين أغدقوا عليهم من رعايتهم وأموالهم حتى أصبحوا من أهل حاشيتهم وخاصَّتهم. والعلَّامة «أحمد تيمور باشا» هنا يطوف بنا في أعماق تاريخ الموسيقى عند العرب، فنَتعرَّف على أنواعها وأدواتها، وعلى أشهر مَن أطربَ الآذان وأمتعَ العرب، وأهمِّ المخطوطات العربية في علم الموسيقى.

Ahmed Taymour Pasha

One of the great men of the Arab Renaissance, and a researcher in the fields of language, literature and history. He is considered the owner of the largest private library in the modern era. Where the number of books in it amounted to eighteen thousand books, and he is the father of each of the two genius writers: Mahmoud Taymour and Muhammad Taymour, and he is the brother of the stubborn one. One of the pioneers of the feminist movement in the nineteenth century in the Arab world.
Ahmed Ismail Muhammad Taymour was born in 1871 AD, his father died when he was an infant, and his older sister Aisha al-Taymouriyyah and her husband Muhammad Tawfiq took care of him. Timur studied at the French school of Marcel for a few years, then dropped out of regular studies and received his education at home; He learned Persian and Turkish, and the young man had, by the age of twenty, built a personal library of eight thousand volumes, half of which were a manuscript.
