كتاب المسلمون وعلم الفلك pdf تأليف محمد محمود الصواف، في القرن 9م جمع المأمون أشهر الفلكيين من العرب،وطلب إليهم أن يصنعوا آلات جديدة لرصد الكواكب؛وبفضل هذه الآلات توصلوا الى حقائق جديدة:
ـ فكانت السنة في حساب"البتاني" هي 365 يوما و5 ساعات و46 دقيقة و24 ثانية، وهي تنقص عنها في حساب اليوم دقيقتين وثلاثا وعشرين ثانية
ـ وتنبأ العرب بكسوف الشمس وخسوف القمر بدقة تثير الإعجاب،وأثبتو كروية الأرض ودورانها ورصدوا موضع الشمس
ـ وتوصلوا من هذا الى تقدير محيط لأرض ب41248 كلمتر أي بزيادة قليلة عما هو في تقدير الفلكيين الحديثين.

Muhammad Mahmoud Al-Sawaf, one of Iraq’s scholars and Islamic preachers, was born in the city of Mosul, studied at Al-Azhar, founded the Muslim Brotherhood in Iraq, participated in the Palestine war, immigrated to Saudi Arabia and worked as an advisor to King Faisal Al Saud, and died in Turkey, and he was one of those who combined political work and Islamic.
