Dr. El-Shazly held the position of Vice Dean for Graduate Studies Affairs, and was nominated for the Deanship of the College after Dr. Ahmed El-Sherbiny, the former Dean of the College, completed the age of retirement. It is noteworthy that Dr. Gamal El-Shazly obtained an excellent BA from the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University - Department of Oriental Languages, with an excellent grade with honors in 1985, and a master’s degree from the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University in 1991 with an excellent grade under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Khalifa, Professor of Jewish Studies at the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University, former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and former Vice President of the Islamic University of Pakistan. He obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University, and from the Institute of Religious Sciences at the University of Potsdam in Germany with first honors in 1997, under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Khalifa and Dr. Sylvia Bowles, Professor of Jewish Studies at the University of Potsdam in Germany. (Joint Egyptian-German supervision) . He traveled to Germany to prepare the Garhi part of his doctoral thesis at the University of Potsdam for two years. Then he worked as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University from 1985 to 1991, and worked as an assistant teacher at the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University from 1991 to 1997, and worked as a teacher at the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University from 1997 to 1997. 2003, and worked as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University from 2003, and worked as a professor at the Faculty of Arts - Cairo University from 2010, and served as Director of the Oriental Studies Center - Cairo University from 2010-2016, and served as Head of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​and Literatures from 2016- 2017, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of Oriental Languages ​​Departments in Egyptian Universities.
