اشتهرت أم سليم بكنيتها «أم سليم! وتَضوا(" على ضبط السين بالضم واللام بالفتح، والياء بالسكون. وإذا كانوا لم يختلفوا في كنيتها، فإنهم قد اختلفوا كثيرآ في اسمهاء فهي: سهلة؛ أو زئلة؛ أو أثيفة؛ أو أتيسة» أو مليكة» أو أنينة". أما لقبها: فهي الشُميصاء، أو الؤمتصاء بالتصغير وأفاد ابن حجر(": آن لقب أم سليم الغميصاء»؛.....
