Book Description
Thief of Souls by Neal Shusterman is the explosive second installment in The Star Shards Chronicles, a thrilling fantasy series that explores power, destiny, and the dark side of human nature. Following the events of Scorpion Shards, this gripping novel plunges readers deeper into a world where extraordinary teenagers must confront both external enemies and the dangerous impulses within themselves.
When the distant star Mentarsus-H went supernova at their conceptions, six teenagers unknowingly absorbed fragments of its shattered soul—granting them unimaginable supernatural abilities. These “Star Shards” have grown into beings of near-godlike power, struggling to balance their humanity with the cosmic energy burning inside them. But as they learn to control their gifts, a new and terrifying force emerges: The Bringer, an ancient, soul-devouring entity determined to corrupt and consume them all.
Manipulated by The Bringer’s influence, the Star Shards begin to turn on each other, their friendships fracturing under the weight of mistrust and pride. As chaos spreads and loyalties crumble, the question becomes clear—who poses the greater threat: the ancient monster hunting them, or the destructive power within themselves?
With his signature mix of psychological depth, high-stakes action, and philosophical insight, Neal Shusterman delivers a dark and breathtaking tale of transformation, temptation, and redemption. Thief of Souls expands the scope of The Star Shards Chronicles, setting the stage for a spectacular and emotionally charged finale.
