Patricia Barnes Svarney is an award-winning science and science fiction writer--with more than three dozen published books for the general audiences. A native of upstate New York, she did field work in geology, but soon found out she had a knack for explaining and writing about topics in the various sciences. So she took up the pen (and then quickly learned to type when computers took over) and hasn't looked back since.
