Book Description
Hurt one too many times in the past, Sloan Fairchild isn't interested in love. Instead, she pours all her energy into running her elegant bed-and-breakfast inn. But when her best friend asks her to house her fiancé for a month, Sloan opens the doors of Fairchild House to Carter Madison...and meets a man who turns her world--and her concept of herself--upside down.
Sloan tries to ignore the feelings this handsome man stirs in her...tries to stop herself from dreaming dreams that can never be. Yet when Carter reveals his own desire, Sloan will find herself facing a heart-wrenching decision: to love for the moment, to walk away forever, or to fight to have it all.
"The moment she saw him, she knew it had been a mistake to grant Alicia's favor. There he stood on the porch of Fairchild House with his suitcase in one hand, his portable typewriter in the other, his narrow-framed tortoise shell eyeglasses on top of his head, looking a trifle sheepish for obviously having gotten her out of bed. And there she was, Sloan Fairchild, owner and proprietor of the bed and breakfast establishment, standing just inside the arched front door, clutching her robe to her throat with white-knuckled fingers and shifting from one bare foot to the other. With her first look into Carter Madison's face, her stomach lurched, tightened, then stumbled over itself on its rolling descent to the cushiony floor of her torso. She became acutely aware of her nakedness beneath her nightgown and robe. Between her thighs an unspeakably shameful, yet magnificent, tingling was reminding her of her sex."
