لم يكن توقه العارم الى اطلاق الرصاص، قابلاً للتفسير في هذه العجالة، سوى أنها ينبغي أن تتم بسرعة، ومن دون تاكؤ. كانت البرهان لنفسه لا لأي شخص، على أنه غير عاجز عن القتل. الشفقة لا تحبط هذه الرغبة، بل تضايقه وكأنه يحتاج الى مبرر يفوق الكراهية العمياء، كراهية بلا حدود مع انه لا يكرهم فعلاً كما انهم لا يأتون بأدنى حركة تسوغ قتلهم.

Fawaz Haddad

Fawaz Haddad, a Syrian writer, born in Damascus, studied law at Damascus University. He held several jobs until writing occupied all his time. He published his first novel (Mosaic, Damascus 39) in 1991. His literary works have followed since that date. His novel (The Traitorous Translator) was shortlisted for the 2009 Arab Booker Prize, and the other (God's Soldiers) was shortlisted in 2011 for the long list. Some of his works have been translated into English, and his novel “God’s Soldiers” was translated into German.
