The writer Youssef Al-Sharif was born in Tripoli in 1938. He obtained a university degree in sociology. He is one of the pioneers in writing the story in Libya. He wrote his first stories in 1959, and his story “The Wall” won the Libyan Arts and Literature Prize in 1968.

Later he specialized in writing for children (stories, encyclopedias and translation), and was also known as a media, journalist and radio broadcaster, with major contributions in the field of program and journalistic production.

He held leadership positions in the media career ladder, from director of radio in 1969 to minister of information in 2013. In the field of journalism, he wrote in most press publications, and headed the editor-in-chief of some of them.
