He is a late Lebanese writer and novelist. He was born in Bhersaf El-Matn in 1911. He obtained his baccalaureate in 1928. He was fluent in the Arabic language and began writing for newspapers since his eighteenth year. He studied at Saint Joseph College in Beirut and then continued his studies of law at Damascus University. He has written many novels, short stories and poetry. His novel Beirut Mills was ranked as one of the 100 best Arabic novels. He died in 1988 when a shell fell on the Spanish embassy building, where he was with his brother-in-law, the ambassador and his daughter. He was killed instantly with his daughter, the writer Samia Totonji.
