Shukri El Khoury: Lebanese journalist and writer. Shukri Abdullah Al-Khoury was born in Bikfaya, Mount Lebanon, to a Maronite family in the year 1870 AD. He learned it until he immigrated at the age of twenty-six to "Brazil", where he settled in the city of "San Paulo". Al-Khoury published “Al-Asma’i” newspaper during his stay in Brazil and it was published for a year and a half. Then he moved to “Argentina” and there he published “Al-Sabbah” newspaper for one year, and it was the first Arab newspaper to be published in Argentina. Then he returned again to Brazil, where he published the newspaper "The Sphinx" and continued to write in it until the end of his life. In addition to Al-Khoury's love of journalistic work, he also wrote some short stories in the vernacular. He also wrote some books on the Lebanese issue, in which he criticized sectarianism and social corruption. He has a famous satirical story “The Colloquial Masterpiece in the Story of Fenianos”; In it, he portrayed the conditions of the Lebanese society in a humorous manner. He was also appointed accreditation (ambassador) to Lebanon in São Paulo in 1927, in appreciation of his services to his countrymen of immigrants. Shukri al-Khoury died in 1937 AD.
