One of the most famous writers of the twentieth century, born in Georgia (1924-1984). Nodar Dombadze, winner of the Lenin Prize in Literature, was born in 1928 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, a republic in the south of the (former) Soviet Union. The writer became famous after the publication of his novel "I and my grandmother, Eliko and Ilayon", which deals with the childhood and youth of a Georgian boy orphaned in the years of the war against the fascist invaders. Critics pointed out that the novel became "a sentimental song that the whole people embraced, and the poor tar population in our multi-national country seized."
