Yasmina Khadra is the pseudonym of the Algerian writer Mohamed Mouleshoul. He was born on January 10, 1955 in Kannadsa, in the Algerian province of Bechar. His father was a nurse and his mother was a Bedouin. At the age of nine, Khadra joined a military school, from which he graduated with the rank of lieutenant in 1978 and joined the armed forces. During his time in the army he published novels signed under his real name. In 2000, after 36 years of service, Yasmina Khadra decided to retire from the military and devote himself to writing, and later settled with his family in France. The following year, he published his novel "The Writer", in which he revealed his true identity, followed by "The Impostor of Words", a book justifying his career. He is known worldwide as his books are translated and sold in 25 countries around the world. Yasmina Khadra's ideas touch on topics that shake Western ideas about the Arab world, criticizing human follies and the culture of violence, and talking about the beauty and charm of his motherland, Algeria, but also about the madness that sweeps everywhere thanks to fear and the sale of consciences under the pretext of religion, leaving behind pools of blood.
