Mohamed Al-Ash'ari (1951, Zarhoun) is a Moroccan politician, poet and novelist. He worked in the press and the political field, which led him to parliamentary and governmental responsibilities, including the position of Minister of Culture. He published his first poetry collection in 1978. He has ten books, a collection of short stories, and one novel, "The Bow and the Butterfly", which won the Arab Booker Prize.
