Mona El-Shimy is an Egyptian writer, born in 1968, born in Qena Governorate.
Mona El-Shimy graduated from the Faculty of Egyptian Archeology at Cairo University in 1990. She works as a history teacher, writes stories and novels, and has published many articles and stories in many Egyptian and Arab magazines and newspapers such as “Al-Watan” and “Akhbar Al-Adab” newspaper, and she has a series of articles in Al-Araby magazine. Kuwaiti, and she also won many Arab awards. Her first novel, "The Color of the Runaway from the Rainbow," was published in 2003.
Mona has won many awards, including:
- Prize of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces in 2003 for her novel "The Color Runaway from the Rainbow".
- The Story Club Award in 2004 for her novel The Right Hand.
-BBC Radio Award 2014 for her short story The Clink of Bracelets.
Katara Prize for her fifth novel, The Back Pocket Home.
Sawiris Prize for her novel the size of a grape.
