Hassanein Benammo is a novelist who made his uniqueness in the Tunisian literary scene through his approach to a difficult path, and it is the historical novel that carried its banner in the Arab world, the writer Jerji Zaidan, by working on important historical periods in Tunisia’s history, such as the Hafsid era, the Ottoman era and parts of the colonial period, which resulted in novels There are many, perhaps the most famous of which are: “Bab Al-Uluj”, “Hajam Souq Al-Blat”, “Bab Al-Fella”, “Al-Karusa”, “Rahmana”, “Al-Dahiya Train”, “Fursan Al-Sarab” and “Moorishia”. Most of these productions have been serialized in the Tunisian press since the eighties of the last century, including what was printed in the world and people’s work, such as Bab Al-Uloj, Rahmana and Al-Karousa, due to the suspenseful style used by Ben Amo and his good use of facts, events and historical figures that people know. Our writer has turned many of his works into radio series, the last of which is “Moorish” which is currently broadcast on the national radio. Hassanein Benammo bears another creative characteristic that is almost unknown to the public, which is that of a painter. Our interlocutor held many exhibitions in the seventies, then was completely cut off and reappeared in 2009 through a comprehensive exhibition of his painting career, which was embraced by Bilal Gallery in the capital.
