An Egyptian judge in the Court of Appeal and a novelist who has published four novels: Time of Hyenas, Toya (which reached the Booker long list for the Arabic novel in 2013), and the novel "The Guide". and the novel "Shepherd's Dogs" 2015. He also published a book about thefts and smuggling of Egyptian antiquities and attempts to recover them, entitled "Legitimate Thefts", which was translated into German.
