Ahmed Al-Malik is a Sudanese novelist and short story writer. He was born in the city of Argo in the northern state in 1967. He published his first novel, The Musical Band, for the University of Khartoum Publishing House in 1991 in a symbolic form. The novel criticized the military rule and the absence of freedoms in Sudan after the fall of the democratic regime in 1989. His second novel, Birds of the Last Days of Autumn, was published by Khartoum House. For printing and publishing in 1996. Some critics considered the novel to be greatly influenced by the current magical realism prevailing in Latin American novels. While some believe that it is rooted in the Sudanese heritage, which is rich in its legends and the diversity of its cultures. A collection of short stories was issued to him in 2001 by the People's House in Syria entitled The Sixth Death of the Old Man Manoufal, followed by his novel Autumn Comes with Safaa (The Arab Institute for Studies and Publishing), which depicts the life of a dictator who has been in power for several years while famine and civil wars destroy the stability of his homeland. Some critics believe that Ahmed Al-Malik tells in his novel the story of instability in his country since the departure of British colonialism and the failure of national governments to find solutions to Sudan's chronic problems. The novel was translated into French and published by Actis Sed in 2007, then a Dutch translation was issued in 2010 by De Jos Publishing. In 2005, he published a short novel with a collection of stories entitled: That of the Braids, published by Azza Publishing House in Khartoum. Then he recently published a house in Juba by Dar Al-Hadara Publishing in Cairo. Within a group of writers from Sudan, a story was issued to him in French in a collection of short stories. Some of his short stories have also been translated into Dutch and published in short story collections with other writers.
