He received his primary education in the city of Bizerte, and continued his secondary studies in Tunis, and obtained a certificate of achievement from the Zitouna University in 1952. He worked in the education corps, and worked as director of the House of Culture in Bizerte in 1968, then worked as an attaché to the Ministry of Culture in 1969. He was appointed head of the publishing department of the Tunisian Company For distribution in 1971. He was appointed as editor-in-chief of Al-Fikr magazine for 6 years from 1972 to 1978. He worked as publishing director at the Abdul Karim bin Abdullah Foundation, then moved to the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) for two years, and established the University Publications Office. He now runs a number of series in one of the publishing houses. He served as president of the Tunisian Publishers Union, and one of the founders of the Story Club in Tunisia. He writes short stories, novels, and children's stories, and is interested in criticism and articles, and has published his production in Tunisian and Arab newspapers and magazines.
