The ninth edition of Wheeler's Anatomy, Physiology, and Occlusion celebrates the life and many accomplishments of one of the best dental educators I have ever known, Major Professor McKinley Ash. Although Dr. Ash has not been able to see this newer print, his contributions to this Ninth Edition as well as the Sixth to Eighth Editions will continue to improve dental education and practice for many years to come. I have been one of his many students throughout my career and I miss his advice greatly. In his memory, I will try to hold the wand and continue the wonderful tradition of Wheeler's text.
