Resource Allocation and Economic Policy

Resource allocation is economics, and broadly speaking economics is re- source allocation. Thus the eight chapters comprising Part I do not attempt to cover or even indicate the whole scope of the subject. Instead, they aim to illuminate certain important topics within the area. In most of these contributions theory and applications are essentially interwoven, yet in a loose sense one can identify the first four as predominantly theoretical and the last four as predominantly applied - if only in that they relate to specific rather than abstract economies.
